What are the compatible materials that can be used with your polymer clay silk screens?

Our polymer clay silk screens are versatile and can be used with various materials. They work well with heavy body acrylic paint, mica powders, and fine chalk pastels when applied to polymer clay, allowing you to create unique and detailed designs on your clay projects.

Do I have to seal the clay after using the silk screen and baking?

Yes, it is recommended to seal the paint, mica powders, or pastels applied through the silk screen after baking your polymer clay project. This helps protect the design and ensures its longevity. You can use a clear polymer clay-compatible varnish or sealer for this purpose. Simply follow the manufacturer's instructions for the chosen sealer to preserve the quality of your finished creation.

How do I clean my silk screen after using it on polymer clay?

If you are using acrylic paint, after removing the silk screen from the clay, it's essential to act quickly. Once you peel the screen off your clay, immediately submerge the screen in a container of cool water and gently rub the paint off using your fingers or a similarly soft tool or brush. If you do not clean your screen promptly, the acrylic paint will dry within the mesh, rendering your screen unusable.

To fully clean your silk screen, gently rinse it with water and a soft brush to remove any residue. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials to prevent damage.

    Are these silk screens reusable?

Yes, polymer clay silk screens are generally reusable. With proper care and cleaning after each use, you can use them for multiple projects.

What do I use to spread paint over the silk screen?

You have several options for spreading paint over the silk screen. You can use silicone paint brushes, silk screen squeegees, or even a credit card. Additionally, we include a complimentary plastic scraper with your silk screen purchase, which works well for this purpose.

Why do my patterns appear blurry or run when using the silk screens?

If your patterns are coming out blurry or running, it's likely because you're using paint that's too thin. For optimal results, use medium or heavy body acrylic paint. To test the consistency, squeeze a small amount onto your finger; it should maintain a blob-like toothpaste texture and not run down your finger. This thicker paint consistency will help ensure your patterns come out crisp and well-defined when using the silk screens.
