Tree Bark Texture Roller
Tree Bark Texture Roller
This polymer clay texture roller creates a realistic tree bark texture.
To achieve a dimensional bark pattern like the one shown on some of the shapes here:
Roll the bark pattern onto a slab of clay, then add darker pigment to the clay. We used chalk pastels, which are an affordable option of a pigment that you can use for this. Spread the pigment onto the texture with a paint brush, so that it fills all of the crevices in the pattern. Next, add some rubbing alcohol or acetone to a paper towel and gently rub the pigment away from the raised parts of the pattern. If you use acetone, you'll need to be super careful, as it will quickly dissolve your clay. Ideally, the pigment will be sealed to ensure it doesn't rub off over time. You can add a thin layer of Sculpey Liquid Clay before baking or your favorite matte polyurethane after baking.
Pattern on roller is approximately 7.8 cm (3.1 in) wide.
