This chain is 304 grade stainless steel.
- Silver: Natural stainless steel color — not silver plated. Durable and highly tarnish resistant.
- Gold: Stainless steel base with 18k double PVD gold plating for excellent tarnish resistance and long-lasting color.
Why is the gold chain more expensive?
The gold version features a double PVD gold coating over stainless steel. This finish is far more durable than traditional gold plating and is designed to withstand everyday wear. I wore test samples for several months, including in the shower and at the beach, and was impressed by how well the finish held up.
The chain links are compatible with jump rings up to approximately 0.85 mm wire thickness (about 20 gauge).
